Biodegradable reef structures optimized for coral growth and ecosystem health.
Most artificial reef bases are made from concrete, plastic or metal — heavy, slow to colonize, and often harmful to the marine environment. They are rarely designed for the specific species and conditions of each site, leading to low coral attachment and survival rates.
REEFABASE uses marine-safe, biodegradable biomaterials engineered to mimic natural reef substrates. The structures are shaped to encourage coral larvae settlement, water flow and microhabitat formation — and break down safely once a living reef has established on top.
Composition and geometry are co-designed with REEFAGEN and validated by REEFASIM before fabrication. Lab tests over 90 days in Red Sea-simulated aquaria confirmed healthy coral attachment and growth on the substrate.
